Melville & Co.
Limited was
founded in 1858 and is one of Belfast’s
longest established funeral directors. It
was originally set up to provide a range
of funeral
services to Victorian Northern Ireland. In
the late 19th Century, Melville & Co. was
well known in
North
Belfast for its horse drawn funerals, which
left its Townsend Street premises for Carnmoney,
often
on a Sunday afternoon.

| Now owned by the Morgan family, Melville & Co.
is still serving the Greater Belfast Area. However,
the company has grown under the new ownership,
and now operates five funeral homes in Belfast
and Bangor. |

This
growth has made the company the largest independent
funeral director in Northern Ireland.
Nevertheless, Melville & Co.
is still providing that personal and caring
approach to the local community, and maintaining
the qualities
of respect, dignity and discretion, which have
been an integral part of the company since 1858.
Every
funeral home, each identifiable by their clock
tower, is modern,
private and comfortable.
